Job Title: Software Engineer for Quantum Key Distribution (Space) Applications

Job Summary: Our company is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) Software Engineer to develop software for QKD applications in space. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions that enable secure communication through quantum key distribution in space-based applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement software solutions for QKD applications in space-based systems
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software with QKD hardware, including FPGAs
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate software functionality and performance
  • Debug and troubleshoot software issues in both development and production environments
  • Document software designs, code, and test procedures
  • Keep up-to-date with new technologies and advancements in QKD and space-based systems


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in software development with proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, VHDL
  • Strong understanding of quantum physics and quantum key distribution
  • Familiarity with QKD protocols, algorithms, and hardware
  • Experience with software development in a Linux environment
  • Experience with FPGA development using tools such as Verilog, VHDL, or SystemVerilog
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in a related field
  • Experience with space-based systems and hardware
  • Experience with developing software for embedded systems
  • Experience with real-time software development
  • Experience with network protocols and security
